"YM MAGAZiNE SCHOLARSHiP CONTEST"

Ok, this is not what you would call normal YM magazine material. What does the headline say? "TEN HOT GUYS. HELP ONE GET A SCHOLARSHiP". Personally this outrages me because first off after reading this material, it only really includes a HUGE photo of the guy, even a couple with their shirts OFF! Not only that but a "would you rather" questions such as" Would you rather...
1. Go out with Avril or Christina?
2. Channel Surf or turn pages?
3. Go around the school in a dress or streak through the halls?
4. Have 6 toes or a third nipple?"
Is it only me or is it that these YM writers think that looks will get you a scholarship? I mean anyone with a brainstem will easily see that these "guys" are being asked stupid questions that have absolutely nothing to do with going to a decent college! What does your martial status or physical features have to do with it? This may just be an innocent little contest on the outside, but really girls, would you pick brains or looks? Personally I would pick looks, but why is this magazine contributing to the whole world stereotypical world of labels? I can almost guarantee that all the girls reading this magazine will pick the hot guy, just because of his looks. I don’t think they should have even put in their pictures! It’s a disgrace that women of all things would make up such a rude and vulgar contest?! Not only that but why weren’t women put into this contest? This magazine is a girl magazine obviously, so why didn’t they include any women in it? When you see the reports of all the people in college, many of them just happen to be women. So why are you giving this scholarship based on looks and gender? I am sorry but this is just an outrage! YM would be lucky if I ever picked up one of their magazines again, because I cant believe that they would be so stereotypical! I probably sound unbelievably rude, but I just want all you girls out there to go and pick up the latest copy of YM (Chad Michael Murray is on the cover).

   Um...GROSS!
I would like to hope that role-modles for teens such as YM MAg would have enough morals and princepals not to print something totally rude as that. I would like to think that my brains got me everywhere I am today and that the world will still support that. But this is also a reality check looks do get you some place, i mean look at brittney spears she will probably end-up with more money that some of the leading minds today because her chest is large, but hey thats reality. I think they also they did that some teenage girls would like to look at them, i mean hey doesn't. But I still It was rude and i hope i m not judged by my looks but a part of me says hey thats reality.

USE YOUR VOICE AND SOUND OFF!!

after talking to other girlmatter members, i realized that the part about me choosing the looks over brains, i meant in an ordinary contest, but the YM contest is making sure that almost every girl that reads it will choose looks because they have nothing else to look at because they havent said anything about their intelligents.
my apologies!

I totally and 100 percent agree i think scholarships should be based on grades and community projects not looks or how meny girls you can date at onece. I think the way YM is going about this is so wrong, I mean if they want to be generous in that way don't ruin it and make it like a boy modeling contest. Anyway why aren't they doing it for girl too and it should be equal.

I total agree with everyone. its like "oh your hot so im gonna give you a scholarship". you could be the stupidest person and be really hot and get a scholarship. i mean come on get real. that is soo stupid. a scholarship should be about your acidemic records and community service projects, not if you are cute. also, people have different tastes...one person might think someone is cute and the other person might not.how would they choose?

~everyone is so right. why would you base a scholorship on whether someone is hot or not. I think that the people who wrot e the artical were basing the contest on what girls they think, these days girls look for in guys. looks! but not all girls are like that. i mean some people would actually look for some kind of personality in a guy, but also that could be just me. in this contest i think they used the sterotype of a girl and based the whole contest around it and it is totally insulting. do you think that these guys knew when they did this, that they were going to get their supposed scholorship based on their looks, because i mean some guys who have brains aren't exactly the cutest ones around?~

it seems to me that you completely overlooked the fact that there is an important issue here, and all you care about is who is on the cover, this article is about how women are being discriminated by
YM by not being included in this contest. you overlooked that fact and all you are worried about is who is on the cover.
